Vision

Official Selection for International South Asian Film Festival 2026, Tasveer Film Festival 2026, Local Sightings Film Festival 2026

The story of the film is based on observation. Growing up in Kolkata, we lived in a multi-generational home with extended family that included my aunts. I was constantly amused watching the intricate dynamics between my mom, the eldest sister, and her two younger sisters. Sibling relationships carry so much status interplay and exchange of authority and affection. I wanted to capture the universal comedy and warmth of those specific interactions.

Medium

When it came to executing the vision, I wanted to step as far away from AI as I could. I spend my days in the tech industry, working on projects that seem to reject human imperfection in favor of the machine. So, I chose paper as my medium to build a 2D world inhabited by 3D characters. Visually, my film leans heavily into the artwork of Jamini Roy, a profoundly influential Bengali artist whose work I grew up with. Jamini Roy himself was trained in Western schools, only to later renounce that and turn to folk art. I felt these aesthetics ground my characters in their culture.
